The Sanford Line Rails
Smoke extends high into sunlight and stars
The light on the engine breaths cold facts to the world
Seventeen cars ride the tracks headed west
Through a Michigan riverbed
A riverbed littered with dead broken dreams
Where the legends and myths gather to breed
The train passes through without slowing down once
There’ll be no stopping here for those desperate to leave
And the train presses on towards the place we all need
Fleeing the desperate need to be free
Heads press the windows down to the rocky outdoors
Obscured by the steaming up breath on the glass
Riding the Sanford Line rails tooth and nail
There is no conductor to stamp ticket stubs
Alone we all gather, alone we shall part
The Sanford Line rails are laid down through my heart
The click and the clack grind through seconds forever
The world never spins in the dreams of the lost
Seventeen cars ride the tracks headed west
Through a Michigan riverbed

Rebellion
There’s a basic acceptance of “nothing I can do”
While rebellion is forming in the sewers below
Those held in the darkness by those up above
Are boiling and churning a plan
To collapse the streets above them
it’s not about love and it’s not about truth
all the matters is freedom from those who build the grates
a gathering flame rips a hole through the fence
and the girders give way under strain
the dust settled last month, but the bodies still bleed
the ditches are growing only deeper from rain
the rebellion has come and the future will fall
there is freedom for all in the warzone

The Town in The Forest
The town in the forest where the laws hold no ground
The locals feed carrots to the mice in the walls
And children all sing songs about the train tracks
The train never stops here
There’s nothing worth stealing in the town of old age
The bricks here were cast before the hills grew beneath them
The rain drops protect them from feeling too much
No travelers stop by for a drink
The temperature drops below freezing
The sweatshirts and trench coats litter the streets
And the children climb ancient oaks for a glance at the sky
The bodies are gathered on the ice
Hope is a dangerous thing in this town
The eyes are all deep from the darkness outside
The locals feed carrots to the mice in the walls
The train never stopped here but once

Brothers and Sisters and You
From a young age, I knew that I would leave
Leave the trees, the ancient concrete, the beautifully colored leaves
I was a coward
Afraid of climbing up and building outward
Afraid to put in hours
and so I never built up my tower
and then bang!
Someone put a bullet in my brain
My blood dripped out florescent in color
And leaving stains
And the trigger had been pulled
It was time for me to take my place
In order to win this point-to-point race
I have to go away
So I’m a bullet now
Flying at top speed among the clouds
Afraid of falling down
But that isn’t enough to keep me around
The dragon left his mountains
To go and scream in the desert
The Phoenix and the Flower
Accompanied him through the weather
The Captain got his license
Took his ship to an old place
And my Brother and I
Hugged it out in a snowy driveway
Review the family and home stead
Took pictures to get me through
When I had to leave my brothers and my sisters and you
I had to leave my brothers and my sisters and yo

Relationship
they never said this kind of relationship could be
I don't know what we are, but you are so special to me
dancing in the starlight on a frozen winter eve
faking dead bodies dragging through the leaves
crossing the country on a hurricane breeze
all I really have to say is that I love you

Self-Service
someday I will wake up on a sunny beach with a drink in one hand
and a bloody severed head in the other
and I will say, loudly and without pause
oh boy

I Cannot Mourn
I cannot mourn what I have never let go
I cannot cry over the one who dries my tears
I miss you like I miss breathing the warm April air
and smiling at the way you look on bridges by the civic center
I think about you always, nearly every part of the day
and when I talk to myself, half of it is as if I speak to you
you hold my heart as when you held my hand back in the day
it's hard to mourn a love that I still hold and feel
Forget-me-not's are pointless, I couldn't if I tried
I don't dream of what went wrong, I dream that you are with me
I dream that you are by my side and that is how it should be
when I dreamt of dying on a plane
it was you I held
and spoke in unison
I love you

Not Sure Who I Am
Not sure who I am
In the overall scheme of life
Like a paper in the breeze
Or a moonbeam in the night
They tell me things I can be
They tell me what I'm not
They bring their own perspective
But perspectives tend to rot
I traveled far, yet still I dwell
In the same old barren fields
Like movie clowns and porno scripts
As always, nothing is real
I say that I am trying
Sometimes I really do
The effort strikes a steel forged door
And shatters through and through
For now I am alone in here
Despite the endless city streets
Until, one day, I find myself
Not who I was, or who I'll be

Sharks
in the ocean below me
falling now is nothing left and then the end will come
fear of hell and fear of nevermore
the skies are vast and timeless
pretending and arrogant ignorance no longer will be tollerated
nor shall the movie life be played
actions speak much louder
clip my wings or thrust them down
the sharks are circling below me
and below me they must stay

Literature
Poetic
poetic sense of urgency
the hooks sink into the blooded meat
the grey matter splashes out onto pen and pad and desktop
taken for granted,
the distance between the canvases
take a second to pick my poison
then vomit it onto one of them
then turn tail and run till I reach the second plane of opportunity
slash a wrist and draw it while I bleed
don't draw with the blood
rather create a masterpiece in charcoal that would hold the world up to another standard
but all the while blood oozes out of the slice
from the wrist of the hand doing the drawing
taint it with red and splashes of personal
then demonize myself
my art is a list of thoughts
and organization of my chaotic catastrophe of a mind
one puzzle piece after another, not sure how many puzzles though

The Fall and Rise of Man
we spoke to demons in the dark of the attic
preparing fog to be our minion and distort the entire planet's point view
they beat us with crucifixes on chains
poured The Blood Of Christ in our eyes
and ate The Body right infront of us
we lay there bruised and shattered with our stomachs begging forgiveness
gimme the bread, gimme the wine, gimme a scrap of rotten cheese!
just give me something please!
and then the waterboarding continued
I spread the word of hatred and of "nothing left to love"
you spread the word of "God wants you to suffer" and send them running
and so the small wars start, internal and parasitic
until the large wars start, and the streets are filled with fire
the bombs will fall in fields, and the bullets will shred the altars
and the sky becomes a villain that we glare it in representation
I kill you in the chaos, slice your throat to end your suffering
and now I'm all alone ontop a throne of human misery
I raise the Bible and command them all to stop
I preach forgive

Happy Birthday
empty rooms and unlit candles
loneliness and bad memories
empty chairs at empty tables
no cake nor ice cream
no party hats nor silly games
no friends nor family
many tears and lived out fears
crying from unbearable pain
no gifts no ribbons no bows
No laughter no fun
endless misery year after year
balloons and cards left at the store
not a single knock at the door my wish this year
is for anything but this
empty rooms and unlit candles

That Dark Lonely Night
On a dark lonely night they made a bad choice
I needed them but they chose their selfish petty self-destructive  act
I was always there for them, through everything
But on that dark lonely night no one was there for me
They knew what they were doing
They knew it was bad and harmful
They knew I was trying to save them
They chose to do it anyway
I was crying outside on the cold sidewalk
My heart and soul were aching
I needed someone, anyone, to be there for me
The police were called, disturbing the peace
But the only peace that was disturbed was mine
The cops could see I was in desperate pain
They wanted me to reach out
I made several phone calls to "friends" and family
Nobody answered
I pleaded to them for help over voicemails and texts
Nobody answered
The police started to cry because I told them no one would be there for me
I told them that no one was there when i needed help
Despite being there for everyone who needed me
Despite always giving my all for everyone whenever they as

WHEN THE SENSES DANCE
Softly spoken words during a midnight fire,
the echo of two hearts beating one desire,
Such sublime setting for the weary wandering echoes,
drifting through the moon lit sky which ever way the wind blows,
Serendipitous grandeur dances in my eyes,
by the flickering flames, all aglow, like fireflies,
Prancing upwards are the the embers giving light to the dark sky,
bright enough to block out stars, a metaphysical reply,
The crescent moon, sparkling with wonder
is impressed by the spell we're under,
I'm honored to bear witness to such splendor,
and be a part of honest words so tender,
The sheer delicacy of our words protected and secure,
show how deeply we're connected, our well stoked fire will endure,
Firey colors enveloping our eyes
and smoke screens try to materialize,
Faint melodies in rhythmic motion leaving us in a trance,
no matter what the distraction, we turn it into a dance,
I raise my hand to twirl my fingers around the dancing embers,
spin around, come full circle, cast a spe

So I'm not a very social person. But I love art, poetry, I love a lot of what I see on DA. I just don't really know what to say on here.

I want to socialize more to communicate with people, see more of their work and have them share in mine too. But I'm not really ever sure what to say on here.

any suggestions? seriously, anyone who has been on here a long time and knows how to socialize with people on here.
